Mission StatementOur mission is to create and support programs for woodturning education and enjoyment. The Peace River Woodturners were formed as a 501(c)(7) Chapter of the American Association of Woodturners in 2007 to serve the growing community of woodturners in Charlotte County, Florida. For woodturners, nothing compares to the fascination of wood: the look, feel, smell, warmth, variety, and radiance of nature in all its glory. Exposing to the eye what is hidden behind the bark, and revealing what would otherwise be lost to the senses, becomes an creative addiction like no other. The PRW holds monthly meetings year-round, showcasing Members turning creations, offer Members Mentoring, Training and Demonstrations , provides Professional Demonstrator seminars, and performs service projects to assist the local community, including the Punta Gorda Historical Society. Our Woodturning Gallery is open to the public every Sunday from 9AM to 1 PM in the Historic Price House at the Punta Gorda History Park, where we help promote learning and appreciation of the ages-old art of woodturning. |
